At that time, Jesus said unto the crowds: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. So it will be at the end of the world: the angels will come and separate the wicked from amongst the righteous, and they will cast them into the fiery furnace. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Have thou understood all this?” They said unto him, “Yes.” He said unto them, “That is wherefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” It came to pass that when Jesus had finished these parables, He departed from there. And when He came to His own country, He taught them in their synagogues, so that they were amazed and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miracles?” “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother’s name Mary? And aren’t James, Joseph, Simon, and Jude His brethren? And aren’t all His sisters amongst us? Where, then, did all these things come from?” And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said unto them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” And He did not perform many miracles there forasmuch as of their unbelief.

Hoc est magnum et primum mandátum. Secúndum autem símile est huic: “Díliges próximum tuum sicut te ipsum”. In his duóbus mandátis univérsa Lex pendet et prophétæ».
At that time: the Pharisees hearing that he had put the Sadducees to silence, came together: and one of them a doctor of law asked of him, tempting him: Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God from thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind. This is the greatest & the first commandment. And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments dependeth the whole Law and the Prophets.

The Sign of a Life Dedicated to God
Sequens præfatio dicitur in sollemnitatibus et festis Sanctarum Virginum et Sanctorum Religiosorum. Dici potest in memoriis ipsorum.
The following preface is recited during solemnities and feasts of the Holy Virgins and holy women religious. It may also be recited when their memorials are celebrated.
Vere dignum et iustum est, æquum et salutáre, nos tibi semper et ubíque grátias ágere: Dómine, sancte Pater, omnípotens ætérne Deus:
It is verily right and just, it is our duty and our salvation, to give thee thanks evermore and everywhere, Lord, holy Father, eternal and almighty God:
In Sanctis enim, qui Christo se dedicavérunt propter regnum cælórum, tuam decet providéntiam celebráre mirábilem, qua humánam substántiam et ad primæ oríginis révocas sanctitátem, et perdúcis ad experiénda dona, quæ in novo sǽculo sunt habénda.
Indeed, we should celebrate Thy wondrous providence in the saints, who have consecrated themselves to Christ for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, through which Thou restore human nature to its original holiness and lead it to experience the gifts that will be bestowed in the world to come.
Et ídeo, cum Sanctis et Angelis univérsis, te collaudámus, sine fine dicéntes:
That is wherefore, together with the saints and all the angels, we praise Thou, saying without end:

Quinque prudéntes vírgines accepérunt óleum in vasis suis cum lampádibus: média autem nocte clamor factus est: Ecce sponsus venit: exíte óbviam Christo Dómino. (T. P. Allelúia.)
The five wise virgins took oil in their vessels with their lamps: in the middle of the night, a cry was heard: Behold the bridegroom cometh; go forth to meet Christ the Lord. (T.P. Alleluia).

Divíni múneris participatióne refécti, quǽsumus, Dómine Deus noster, ut, exémplo beátæ N., mortificatiónem Iesu in córpore nostro circumferéntes, tibi soli adhærére studeámus. Per Christum.
Lord, our God, Thou hast restored us through this holy food; grant that, following the example of Blessed N., we may bear the mortification of Jesus in our bodies and strive to cling unto thee alone. Through Christ our Lord.
