Dómini est terra et plenitúdo eius, * orbis terrárum et qui hábitant in eo.
Unto the Lord is the earth and all that is in it, the world and all those who inhabit it.
Quia ipse super mária fundávit eum * et super flúmina firmávit eum.
For it is He who founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers.
Quis ascéndet in montem Dómini, * aut quis stabit in loco sancto eius?
Who will go up on the mountain of the Lord, or who will stand in his holy place?

God, refuge and strength
Vocabunt nomen eius Emmanuel, quod est interpretatum Nobiscum Deus (Mt 1, 23).
He will be called Emmanuel, which means God With Us (Mt 1:23).
Deus est nobis refúgium et virtus, * adiutórium in tribulatiónibus invéntus est nimis.
God is our refuge and our strength, a help that we evermore find in tribulation.
Proptérea non timébimus, dum turbábitur terra, * et transferéntur montes in cor maris.
Wherefore we are not afraid if the earth is disturbed, if the mountains sink into the heart of the ocean.

Jerusalem, mother of all nations
Illa quæ sursum est Ierusalem, libera est, quæ est mater nostra (Gal 4, 26).
The Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother (Gal 4:26).
Fundaménta eius in móntibus sanctis; † díligit Dóminus portas Sion * super ómnia tabernácula Iacob.
He founded it on the holy mountains; The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all of Jacob's dwellings.

Glorious things have been said about thou, city of God!
