O God, who, by the folly of the cross, taught the blessed Justin, the Martyr, in an admirable manner, the eminent knowledge of Jesus Christ, grant us, through his intercession, that after having seen the multitude of errors around us repulsed, we may obtain firmness in the faith.
  Lectio I

Brethren: For the word of the cross, to them indeed that perish, is foolishness; but to them that are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God. For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the prudence of the prudent I will reject. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world, by wisdom, knew not God, it pleased God, by the foolishness of our preaching, to save them that believe. For both the Jews require signs, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumblingblock, and unto the Gentiles foolishness: But unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Word of the Lord. r. Let us give thanks to God.

  Lectio I

So I will remember the works of the Lord, and declare what I have seen: in the words of the Lord are His works, and judgment has been fulfilled according to His will. The sun, which shines on all things, has contemplated them, and the glory of the Lord is full in His work. The Lord's saints cannot recount all His wonders. The Lord has confirmed that His armies will stand firm before His glory. He has fathomed the abysses and the hearts of men, and in their cunning He has devised stratagems. For the Lord knows all knowledge and has examined the sign of the ages, announcing what has happened and what will happen, and revealing traces of what is hidden. No thought escapes Him, no word is hidden from Him. He has ordained the mighty acts of His wisdom; He is one before time and forever; He neither increases nor decreases, and He needs no one's counsel. How desirable are all His works, and how beautiful they are to behold! All live and abide eternally, and in every need, all obey Him; all things are in pairs, one against the other, and He has made nothing defective. One confirms the goodness of the other; and who will be content to see His glory?

Vos estis lux mundi.
