Léctio libri primi Samuélis (1,24-28)
In diebus illis: Addúxit Anna Samuelem secum, postquam ablactáverat, cum vítulo trium annórum et tribus módiis farínæ et utre vini; et addúxit eum ad domum Dómini in Silo. Puer autem erat adhuc infántulus. Et immolavérunt vítulum et obtulérunt púerum Heli, et ait Anna: " Óbsecro, mi dómine; vivit ánima tua, dómine, ego sum illa múlier, quæ steti coram te hic orans Dóminum. Pro púero isto orávi, et dedit mihi Dóminus petitiónem meam, quam postulávi eum. Idcírco et ego commodávi eum Dómino; cunctis diébus, quibus vivet, postulátus erit pro Dómino ". Et adoravérunt ibi Dóminum.
In those days: after Anna had weaned Samuel, with three calves, & three bushels of meal, and a flagon of wine, and she brought him to the house of our Lord in Silo. But the child was yet a little infant: and they immolated a calf, and offered the child to Heli. And Anna said: I beseech thee my Lord, thy soul liveth my Lord: I am that woman, which stood before thee here praying our Lord. For this child did I pray, and our Lord hath given me my petition, which I asked him. Therefore I also have given him to our Lord all the days, which he shall live, that he may be applied to our Lord. And they adored our Lord there. And Anna prayed, and said:
