On the Glory of the Assumption of Mary
Vere dignum et iustum est, æquum et salutáre, nos tibi semper et ubíque grátias ágere: Dómine, sancte Pater, omnípotens ætérne Deus: per Christum Dóminum nostrum.
Verily, it is right and just, fair and salutary for us, evermore and everywhere, to give thee thanks: Lord, Holy Father, eternal and almighty God, through Christ our Lord.
Quóniam Virgo Deípara hódie in cælos assúmpta est, Ecclésiæ tuæ consummándæ inítium et imágo, ac pópulo peregrinánti certæ spei et solácii documéntum; corruptiónem enim sepúlcri eam vidére mérito noluísti, quæ Fílium tuum, vitæ omnis auctórem, ineffabíliter de se génuit incarnátum.
For today the Virgin Mother of God has been assumed into heaven, the beginning and image of the Church yet to be perfected, and for the pilgrim people, a sign of sure hope and consolation; indeed, Thou didst not will that she should experience the corruption of the tomb, she who ineffably brought forth from her womb Thy Son, the author of all life.
Et ídeo, choris angélicis sociáti, te laudámus, in gáudio confiténtes:
That is wherefore, together with the angelic choirs, we praise Thou, confessing with joy.
