Pax domestica in Domino
Domestic peace in the Lord
«Benedicat te Dominus ex Sion», id est: ex Ecclesia sua (Arnobius).
"May the Lord bless thee from Zion", i.e.: from His Church (Arnobius).
Beatus omnis, qui timet Dominum, * qui ambulat in viis eius.
Blessed are all they that fear the Lord: * that walk in his ways.
Labores manuum tuarum manducabis, * beatus es, et bene tibi erit.
For thee shalt eat the labours of thy hands: * blessed art thou, and it shall be well with thee.
Uxor tua sicut vitis fructifera * in lateribus domus tuæ;
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine * on the sides of thy house.
filii tui sicut novellæ olivarum * in circuitu mensæ tuæ.
Thy children as olive plants * round about thy table.
Ecce sic benedicetur homo, * qui timet Dominum.
Behold, thus shall the man be blessed * that feareth the Lord.
Benedicat tibi Dominus ex Sion, * et videas bona Ierusalem omnibus diebus vitæ tuæ;
May the Lord bless thee out of Sion: * and mayest thou see the good things of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
et videas filios filiorum tuorum. * Pax super Israel!
And mayest thou see thy children’s children: * peace upon Israel.
