Cum audísset Iob nuntiórum verba, sustínuit patiénter et ait: Si bona suscépimus de manu Dómini, mala autem quare non sustineámus? In ómnibus his non peccávit Iob lábiis suis, neque stultum áliquid contra Dem locútus est.
Quand Job eut entendu les paroles des messagers, il le supporta patiemment et il dit : Si nous recevons les bonnes choses de la part de Dieu, pourquoi ne supporterions-nous pas les maux ? En tout cela, Job ne pécha pas en parole, et il ne prononça rien de sot à l'encontre du Seigneur.
