  They rejoiced to behold them appeased, and God led them unto the port where they wanted to arrive.

  He hath turned the rivers into a desert, and the springs of water into parched soil,

  and the fertile land in salt plains, forasmuch as of the malice of its inhabitants.

  He hath turned the deserts into sheets of water, and the arid land into running waters.

  And He settled the hungry there, and they built a city to dwell in;

  they have sown fields and planted vineyards, and gathered abundant fruit.

  He blessed them, and they multiplied exceedingly; He did not allow their flocks to be diminished.

  Then they were reduced to a few, and overwhelmed by the affliction of their evils and pain.
  Effúdit contemptiónem super príncipes * et erráre fecit eos in desérto ínvio.
  Contempt was poured out upon the princes, and He caused them to wander out of the way and into places without way.
  Et suscépit páuperem de inópia * et pósuit sicut oves famílias.
  And He helped the poor in their poverty and multiplied families like flocks.
  Vidébunt recti et lætabúntur, * et omnis iníquitas oppilábit os suum.
  The righteous will behold it and rejoice, and iniquity will have to shut its mouths.
  Quis sápiens, et custódiet hæc * et intélleget misericórdias Dómini?.
  Who is wise to take heed of these things, and to understand the mercies of the Lord?
