Lectio I
I beheld till thrones were set, and the ancient of days sat: his vesture white as snow, and the hairs of his head as clean wool: his throne flames of fire: his wheels fire kindled. Afire & swift stream came forth from his face: thousands of thousands ministered to him, & ten thousand hundred thousands assisted him: judgement sat, and the books were opened. I beheld therefore in the vision of the night, and lo with the clouds of heaven there came in, as it were the son of man, and he came even to the ancient of days: and in his sight they offered him. And he gave him power, and honour, and kingdom: and all peoples, tribes, & tongues shall serve him: his power, an eternal power, that shall not be taken away: and his kingdom, that shall not be corrupted.
Verbum Dómini. r. Deo grátias.
Word of the Lord. r. Let us give thanks to God.

Lectio I
2 Petr 1,16-19
Caríssimi: Non captiósas fábulas secúti notam fécimus vobis Dómini nostri Iesu Christi virtútem et advéntum, sed speculatóres facti illíus magnitúdinis. Accípiens enim a Deo Patre honórem et glóriam, voce proláta ad eum huiuscémodi a magnífica glória: “ Fílius meus, diléctus meus hic est, in quo ego mihi complácui ”; et hanc vocem nos audívimus de cælo prolátam, cum essémus cum ipso in monte sancto. Et habémus firmiórem prophéticum sermónem, cui bene fácitis attendéntes quasi lucérnæ lucénti in caliginóso loco, donec dies illucéscat, et lúcifer oriátur in córdibus vestris.
Beloved, it is not having followed unlearned fables, have we made the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ known to you: but made beholders of his greatness. For, he receiving from God his Father honour and glory, this manner of voice coming down to him from the magnifical glory, This is my beloved Son in whom I have pleased myself, hear him. And this voice we heard brought from heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount. And we have the Prophetical word more sure: which you do well attending unto, as to a candle shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, & the day-star arise in your hearts:
Verbum Dómini. r. Deo grátias.
Word of the Lord. r. Let us give thanks to God.

PREFACE
De transfiguratione Domini
On the Transfiguration of the Lord
It is verily right and just, good and fitting, that we give thee thanks evermore and everywhere: Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
After announcing his own death to his disciples, he revealed his glory unto them on the holy mountain, so that it might be clear that it is through suffering—as attested by the Law and the Prophets—that one attains the glory of the resurrection.
Et ídeo cum cælórum virtútibus in terris te iúgiter celebrámus, maiestáti tuæ sine fine clamántes:
That is wherefore, together with the heavenly powers on earth, we give thee unceasing glory, proclaiming Thy majesty without ceasing:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dóminus Deus Sábaoth...

My heart has said unto thee: “My eyes have sought Thou; Thy face, O Lord, I will seek.” Do not turn Thy face away from me.

Montes sicut cera fluxérunt a facie Dómini, a facie Dómini omnis terra.
