PRÆFATIO II DE ADVENTU
De duplici exspectatione Christi
On the Twofold Expectation of Christ
Verily, it is right and just, fair and salutary for us, evermore and everywhere, to give thee thanks: Lord, Holy Father, eternal and almighty God, through Christ our Lord.
The very One foretold by the proclamations of all the prophets, whom the Virgin Mother bore and raised with ineffable love, whose coming John (the Baptist) prophesied, and whom he identified at the time of His Advent. He who has granted us the joy of coming to contemplate the mystery of His birth, and who desires to find us evermore watchful in prayer and exultant in His praise.
That is wherefore, together with the Angels and Archangels, the Thrones and Dominions, and the entire host of the heavenly army, we sing a hymn of glory unto thee, saying without end:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dóminus Deus Sábaoth...
