Desire for peace

In tribulatione patientes, orationi instantes (Rom 12, 12).

Be patient in affliction, diligent in prayer, (Rom 12:12).

In my trouble I cried to the Lord: * and he heard me.

O Lord, deliver my soul from wicked lips, * and from a deceitful tongue.

Quid detur tibi aut quid apponátur tibi, * lingua dolósa?

People's Guard

Non esurient amplius, neque sitient amplius, neque cadet super illos sol neque ullus æstus (Ap 7, 16).

They shall hunger no more, they shall thirst no more, the burning of the sun shall overwhelm them no more (Rev 7:16).

Levábo óculos meos in montes: * unde véniet auxílium mihi?

I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains: * from whence help shall come to me.

Auxílium meum a Dómino, * qui fecit cælum et terram.

My help is from the Lord, * who made heaven and earth.

Civitas sancta Ierusalem

The holy city of Jerusalem

Accessistis ad Sion montem et civitatem Dei viventis, Ierusalem cælestem (Hebr 12, 22).

You have come close to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, which is the heavenly Jerusalem (Hebr 12:22).

Lætátus sum in eo quod dixérunt mihi: * « In domum Dómini íbimus. »

I rejoiced at the things that were said to me: * We shall go into the house of the Lord.

Stantes iam sunt pedes nostri * in portis tuis, Ierúsalem.

Our feet were standing * in thy courts, O Jerusalem.

Ierúsalem, quæ ædificáta est ut cívitas, * sibi compácta in idípsum.

Jerusalem, which is built as a city, * which is compact together.

Illuc enim ascendérunt tribus, tribus Dómini, * testimónium Israel, ad confiténdum nómini Dómini.

For thither did the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, * the testimony of Israel, to praise the name of the Lord.
