Lectio I
Nunc autem Christus resurréxit a mórtuis, primítiæ dormiéntium.
Brethren, if Christ is proclaimed to have risen from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not risen! But if Christ has not risen, our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain; we are also recognized as false witnesses of God, for we have testified against God by raising Christ, whom he has not raised, if the dead do not rise. For if the dead are not raised, neither is Christ. And if Christ has not risen, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins. So even those who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If we put our hope in Christ for this life only, we are the most miserable of all men. But now Christ has risen from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
Verbum Dómini. r. Deo grátias.
Word of the Lord. r. Let us give thanks to God.
