Redemptórem nostrum, qui per crucem suam nos redémit, fidénter deprecémur:
Per crucem exálta nos ad regnum tuum.
Through Thy cross, lift us up to Thy kingdom.
Christe, qui teípsum exinanísti, formam servi accípiens, in similitúdinem hóminum factus,
Christ, Thou who annihilated Yourself, taking the condition of a slave, becoming like men,
— præsta ut membra Ecclésiæ imiténtur humilitátem tuam.
- grant that the members of the Church imitate Thy humility.
Christe, qui humiliásti teípsum, factus oboediens usque ad mortem, mortem autem crucis,
Christ, Thou who humbled Yourself, making Yourself obedient unto death, and the death of the cross,
— da servis tuis oboediéntiam et patiéntiam.
- give Thy servants obedience and patience.
Christe, qui exaltátus es a Deo et accepísti nomen super omne nomen,
Christ, Thou who have been exalted by God and received the Name that is above every name,
— concéde fidélibus tuis perseverántiam usque ad finem.
- grant Thy faithful perseverance unto the end.
Christe, cuius in nómine omne genu flectétur cæléstium, terréstrium et infernórum,
Christ, at whose Name every knee shall bow in heaven, on earth and in hell,
— infúnde caritátem homínibus, ut te adórent in pace.
- spread charity amongst men, so that they may worship Thou in peace.
Christe, quem omnis lingua confitébitur Dóminum in glóriam Dei Patris,
Christ, Thou whom every tongue will proclaim Lord unto the glory of God the Father,
— áccipe fratres nostros defúnctos in regnum beatitúdinis perpétuæ.
- welcomes our deceased brethren into the realm of eternal bliss.
