The Mystery of Pentecost
Vere dignum et iustum est, æquum et salutáre, nos tibi semper et ubíque grátias ágere: Dómine, sancte Pater, omnípotens ætérne Deus.
Verily, it is right and just, fair and beneficial for us, evermore and everywhere, to give thee thanks: Lord, Holy Father, eternal and almighty God.
Tu enim, sacraméntum paschále consúmmans, quibus, per Unigéniti tui consórtium, fílios adoptiónis esse tribuísti, hódie Spíritum Sanctum es largítus; qui, princípio nascéntis Ecclésiæ, et cunctis géntibus sciéntiam índidit deitátis, et linguárum diversitátem in uníus fídei confessióne sociávit.
To celebrate the Paschal Sacrament, Thou hast united Thyself through Thy only Son with those whom Thou hast made Thy adopted children, by pouring out the Holy Spirit today; who, at the beginning of the Church’s birth, gave to all peoples, the knowledge of the true God, so that they might profess one and the same faith despite the diversity of languages.
Quaprópter, profúsis paschálibus gáudiis, totus in orbe terrárum mundus exsúltat.
And so, filled with the joy of Easter, the whole world rejoices.
Sed et supérnæ virtútes atque angélicæ potestátes hymnum glóriæ tuæ cóncinunt, sine fine dicéntes:
But the higher virtues and the angelic powers, too, sing the hymn of Thy glory, saying without ceasing:
