Dómine, scrutátus es et cognovísti me, † tu cognovísti sessiónem meam et resurrectiónem meam. * Intellexísti cogitatiónes meas de longe,

O Lord, thou hast proved me and known me, † thou hast known my sitting down and my rising up. * Thou hast understood my thoughts afar off.

You are my refuge

Filius hominis traditur in manus peccatorum (Mt 26, 45).

The Son of Man will be delivered into the hands of sinners (Mt 26:45).

Eripe me, Dómine, ab hómine malo, * a viro violéntiæ serva me.

Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: * rescue me from the unjust man.

Qui cogitavérunt mala in corde, * tota die constituébant prœ́lia.

Who have devised iniquities in their hearts: * all the day long they designed battles.

Prayer in the face of danger

Et ascendit fumus incensorum de orationibus sanctorum de manu angeli coram Deo (Ap 8, 4).

The angel raised the smoke of the incense with the prayers of the saints before God (Rev 8:4).

Dómine, clamávi ad te, ad me festína; * inténde voci meæ, cum clamo ad te.

Lord, I have cried to thee, hear me: * harken to my voice, when I cry to thee.

Dirigátur orátio mea sicut incénsum in conspéctu tuo, * elevátio mánuum meárum ut sacrifícium vespertínum.

Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight; * the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice.
