Enlighten my understanding, inflame my love, so that I may recite this office with respect, attention, and devotion, and merit to be heard in the presence of Thy divine majesty. Majesty of the Lord, and dignity of man

The Lord is king: let the earth rejoice, let the many islands rejoice.

The cloud and the shadow surround him, justice and equity are the basis of His throne.

Fire advances before Him, and devours His adversaries around him.

Praise to the merciful Lord

He shall not be perpetually angry, and will not threaten endlessly.

He hath not dealt with us according to our sins, nor has He punished us according to our iniquities.

For as much as heaven is exalted above the earth, so He hath established (corroborated) His mercy upon those who fear Him.

As far as the east is removed from the west, so much has He removed our iniquities from us.

As a father has compassion on His children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.

For He knoweth (Himself) what we are made of; He remembered that we are naught but dust.

Homo: sicut fenum dies eíus, * tamquam flos agri sic efflorébit.

The days of man pass like grass; it will bloom like the flower of the field.

Spirat ventus in illum, et non subsístet, * et non cognóscet eum ámplius locus eíus.

Let a breath pass over him/her, and he/she is (she) no more, and the place he/she used to occupy no longer recognizes him.

But the Lord's mercy extends from eternity to eternity upon those who fear Him. And His righteousness is poured out upon the children of the children (sons of the sons)

of those who keep His covenant, and keep in remembrance His precepts (commandments), to fulfill them.
