O God, in Thy ineffable mercy, Thou deigned to choose the blessed Matthew to make an Apostle of a publican; grant us the support of his intercession and example to follow thou and thus be able to cling firmly unto thee.
Lectio I
Brethren: I urge thou, as one who is a prisoner for the Lord, to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which thou hast been called: with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, striving to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is (Be) one body and one Spirit, just as thou wast called to one hope through thy calling. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism. There is one God and Father of all, who is over all, through all, and in all. But to each of us grace has been given according unto the measure of Christ’s gift. And it is he who gave some as apostles, others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints, for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ, until we all attain unto the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
Verbum Dómini. r. Deo grátias.
Word of the Lord. r. Let us give thanks to God.

r. Glória tibi Dómine.
r. Glory be to Thee, O Lord..
In illo tempore: Cum transíret Iésus, vidit hóminem sedéntem in telóneo, Matthǽum nómine, et ait illi: “Séquere me.”
At that time: Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man sitting in the custom-house, named Matthew; And he saith to him: Follow me. And he arose up, and followed him. And it came to pass as he was sitting at meat in the house, behold many Publicans and sinners came, and sat down with Jesus and his Disciples. And the Pharisees seeing it, said to his disciples: why doth your master eat with Publicans and sinners? But Jesus hearing it, said: They that are in health, need not a physician, but they that are ill at ease. But go your ways & learn what it is, I will mercy, & not sacrifice. For I am not come to call the just, but sinners.

Præfatio de Apostolis
Preface of the Apostles
De Apostolis pastoribus populi Dei
Apostles, Shepherds of God's People
Verily, it is right and just, fair and beneficial, for us to give thee thanks evermore and everywhere: Lord, Holy Father, eternal and almighty God:
Eternal Shepherd, Thou never abandon Thy flock, but through the holy Apostles Thou protect and preserve it, and Thou desire that it evermore be guided by the word of those same shepherds to whom Thy Son entrusted the mission of proclaiming the Gospel.
That is wherefore, together with the Angels and Archangels, the Thrones and Dominions, and the entire host of the heavenly army, we sing a hymn of glory unto thee, saying without end:

His glory is great, thanks to Thy salvation; Thou shalt cover him with glory and immense honor (beauty), Lord.
Post communionem
Lord, we have shared in the joy of salvation that Blessed Matthew experienced, rejoicing that the Savior was his guest; grant that we may evermore feed the One who came not to call the righteous to salvation, but sinners.

De Apostolis
Apostles
The following blessings may be used, at the discretion of the priest, at the end of the celebration of Mass, or of the Liturgy of the Word, or of the Office, or of the Sacraments. The deacon, or failing that, the priest himself, says the invitatory:
Inclináte vos ad benedictiónem.
Bow down for the blessing.
Deinde sacerdos, manibus super populum extensis, dicit benedictionem, omnibus respondentibus:
Then the priest, with his hands extended over the people, says the blessing, to which all respond:
Amen.
Amen.
Deus, qui vos in apostólicis tríbuit consístere fundaméntis, benedícere vobis dignétur beatórum Apostolórum N. et N. (beáti Apóstoli N.) méritis intercedéntibus gloriósis.
May God, who has granted thou the grace to stand firm on the apostolic foundations, deign to bless thou through the intercession of the glorious merits of the blessed Apostles N. and N. (of the blessed Apostle N.).
r. Amen.
r. Amen.
And may He who has graced thou with their teachings and examples make thou, through their apostolic protection, witnesses unto the truth for all.
r. Amen.
r. Amen.
So that, through their intercession, thou may come unto the inheritance of the eternal homeland, thou who possess the firmness of faith through their doctrine.
r. Amen.
r. Amen.
Et benedíctio Dei omnipoténtis, Patris, et Fílii, ✠ et Spíritus Sancti, descéndat super vos et máneat semper.
And may the blessing of Almighty God, Father, Son, ✠ and Holy Spirit, descend upon thee and remain there forevermore.
