   Collecta

Custódi, quǽsumus, Dómine, in pópulo tuo spíritum, quo beátum Cárolum epíscopum implevísti, ut Ecclésia indesinénter renovétur, et, Christi se imágini confórmans, ipsíus vultum mundo váleat osténdere. Qui tecum.
Deign to maintain, O Lord, in Thy people the spirit with which Thou hast filled the blessed Bishop Charles, so that Thy Church may be continually renewed, and, made conformed unto the image of Christ, manifest His face unto the world.
   Lectio I

Odiéntes malum, adhæréntes bono; caritáte fraternitátis ínvicem diligéntes, honóre ínvicem præveniéntes, sollicitúdine non pigri, spíritu fervéntes, Dómino serviéntes, spe gaudéntes, in tribulatióne patiéntes, oratióni instántes, necessitátibus sanctórum communicántes, hospitalitátem sectántes.

   Verbum Dómini. r. Deo grátias.
Word of the Lord. r. Let us give thanks to God.

Ego sum pastor bonus et cognósco meas, et cognóscunt me meæ, sicut cognóscit me Pater, et ego cognósco Patrem; et ánimam meam pono pro óvibus.    Evangelium

At that time: great multitudes went with Jesus; and turning, he said to them: If any man come to me and hateth not his father and mother, and wife and children, and brethren and sisters, yea and his own life besides; he cannot be my disciple. And he that doth not bear his cross and come after me; cannot be my Disciple. For, which of you minding to build a tower, doth not first sit down and reckon the charges that are necessary, whether he have to finish it: lest, after that he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that see it, begin to mock him, saying, That this man began to build, and he could not finish it? Or what king about to go to make war against another king, doth not first sit down and think whether he be able with ten thousands to meet him that with twenty thousands cometh against him? Otherwise whiles he is yet far off, sending a legacy he asketh those things that belong to peace. So therefore every one of you that doth not renounce all that he possesseth, cannot be my disciple.

   PRÆFATIO DE SANCTIS PASTORIBUS
   PREFACE OF THE HOLY PASTORS
De præsentia sanctorum Pastorum in Ecclesia
On the Presence of Holy Shepherds in the Church
Verily, it is right and just, fair and salutary for us, evermore and everywhere, to give thee thanks: Lord, Holy Father, eternal and almighty God, through Christ our Lord.
Quia sic tríbuis Ecclésiam tuam sancti N. festivitáte gaudére, ut eam exémplo piæ conversatiónis corróbores, verbo prædicatiónis erúdias, gratáque tibi supplicatióne tueáris.
Forasmuch as Thou grant us the joy of celebrating the feast of Saint N. today, strengthening Thy Church through the example of his holy life, instructing it through his words, and protecting it through his intercession.
That is wherefore, together with the angels and the host of saints, we sing a hymn of praise unto thee, saying without end:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dóminus Deus Sábaoth...
