A CHILD is born to us, and a Son is given to us: Whose government is upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called the Angel of great counsel. Ps. Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: because He hath done wonderful things. Glory be to the Father.

O God, who by the blessed birth of the holy Virgin caused the flesh of Thy Son not to be subjected unto the damage incurred by human nature, grant, we pray Thou, that, supported by the newness of this creation, we may divest ourselves of the contagion of the old man.
Lectio I
Beloved: Because this is the annunciation, which you have heard from the beginning, That you love one another. Not as Cain, who was of the wicked, and killed his brother. And for what cause killed he him? Because his works were wicked: but his brother's, just. Marvel not, brethren, if the world hate you. We know that we are translated from death to life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not, abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother, is a murderer. And you know that no murderer hath life everlasting abiding in himself. In this we have known the charity of God, because he hath yielded his life for us: and we ought to yield our lives for the brethren. He that shall have the substance of the world, and shall see his brother have need, and shall shut his bowels from him: how doth the charity of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word, nor in tongue, but in deed and truth. In this we know that we are of the truth: and in his sight we shall persuade our hearts. For if our heart do reprehend us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. My dearest, if our heart do not reprehend us, we have confidence toward God.
Verbum Dómini. r. Deo grátias.
Word of the Lord. r. Let us give thanks to God.

In illo tempore: vóluit Iesus exíre in Galilǽam et invénit Philíppum. Et dicit ei Iésus: " Séquere me ". Erat autem Philíppus a Bethsáida, civitáte Andréæ et Petri. Invénit Philíppus Nathánæl et dicit ei: " Quem scripsit Móyses in Lege et Prophétæ invénimus, Iésum fílium Ióseph a Názareth ". Et dixit ei Nathánæl: " A Názareth potest áliquid boni esse? ". Maióra his vidébis ".
At that time: Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and he findeth Philippe. And Jesus saith to him: Follow me. And Philippe was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philippe findeth Nathanael, and saith to him: Him whom Moyses in the law, and the Prophets wrote of, we have found, Jesus the son of Joseph, of Nazareth. And Nathanael said to him: From Nazareth can there be any good? Philippe saith to him: Come and see. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and he saith of him: Behold an Israelite in very deed, in whom there is no guile. Nathanael saith to him: How knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said to him: Before that Philippe did call thee, when thou wast under the figtree, I saw thee. Nathanael answered him and saith: Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the King of Israel. Jesus answered, and said to him: Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the figtree, thou believest; greater than these things shalt thou see. And he saith to him: Amen Amen I say to you, You shall see the Heaven opened, and the Angels of God ascending and descending, upon the Son of man.

PRÆFATIO II DE NATIVITATE DOMINI
De restauratione universa in Incarnatione
On Universal Restoration in the Incarnation
It is verily right and just, fair and praiseworthy, to give thee thanks evermore and everywhere: O Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
He who, as we celebrate the venerable mystery of this feast, though invisible in His divine nature, made Himself visible in our human nature, and, though begotten before time, began to exist within time; so that, by raising up in Himself all that had fallen, He might restore all things to their integrity and bring back the lost human race unto the heavenly realms.
That is wherefore we, too, together with all the angels, praise Thou, joyfully proclaiming:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dóminus Deus Sábaoth...
