  v. Deus, ✠ in adiutórium meum inténde.
  v. O God, come to my assistance;
  r. Dómine, ad adiuvándum me festína.
  r. O Lord, make haste to help me.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, et Spirítui Sancto. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc et semper, et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
  Hymnus
Pange, lingua, gloriósi próélium certáminis et super crucis tropǽo dic triúmphum nóbilem, quáliter redémptor orbis immolátus vícerit.
Sing, my tongue, the glorious battle Sing the last, the dread affray; O’er the Cross, the victor’s trophy, Sound the high triumphal lay: Tell how Christ, the world’s Redeemer, As a victim won the day.
De paréntis protoplásti fraude factor cóndolens, quando pomi noxiális morte morsu córruit, ipse lignum tunc notávit, damna ligni ut sólveret.
God, His Maker, sorely grieving That the first-made Adam fell, When he ate the fruit of sorrow, Whose reward was death and hell, Noted then this Wood, the ruin Of the ancient wood to quell.
For the work of our salvation Needs would have his order so, And the multiform deceiver’s Art by art would overthrow, And from thence would bring the med’cine Whence the insult of the foe.
Wherefore, when the sacred fulness Of the appointed time was come, This world’s Maker left His Father, Sent the heav’nly mansion from, And proceeded, God Incarnate, Of the Virgin’s holy womb.
Lustra sex qui iam perácta tempus implens córporis, se volénte, natus ad hoc, passióni déditus, agnus in crucis levátur immolándus stípite.
Æqua Patri Filióque, ínclito Paráclito, sempitérna sit beátæ Trinitáti glória, cuius alma nos redémit atque servat grátia. Amen.

Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos? (Rom 8, 31).
If God is for us, who will be against us?

Deus, impollúta via eius, elóquia Dómini igne examináta; * protéctor est ómnium sperántium in se.
As for my God, his way is undefiled: the words of the Lord are fire tried: he is the protector of all that trust in him.
Quóniam quis Deus præter Dóminum? * Aut quæ munítio præter Deum nostrum?
For who is God but the Lord? or who is God but our God?
  Deus, qui præcínxit me virtúte * et pósuit immaculátam viam meam;
God, who hath girt me with strength; and made my way blameless.
  qui perfécit pedes meos tamquam cervórum * et super excélsa státuit me;
Who hath made my feet like the feet of harts: and who setteth me upon high places.
Who teacheth my hands to war: and thou hast made my arms like a brazen bow.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, and ever shall be. Amen.

Ant. 2. May Thy right hand, Lord, seize me.

V
Et dedísti mihi scutum salútis tuæ, et déxtera tua suscépit me, * et exaudítio tua magnificávit me.
And thou hast given me the protection of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath held me up: And thy discipline hath corrected me unto the end: and thy discipline, the same shall teach me.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; and my feet are not weakened.
I will pursue after my enemies, and overtake them: and I will not turn again till they are consumed.
Confringébam illos, nec póterant stare, * cadébant subtus pedes meos.
I will break them, and they shall not be able to stand: they shall fall under my feet.
Et præcinxísti me virtúte ad bellum * et supplantásti insurgéntes in me subtus me.
And thou hast girded me with strength unto battle; and hast subdued under me them that rose up against me.
Et inimícos meos dedísti mihi dorsum * et odiéntes me disperdidísti.
And thou hast made my enemies turn their back upon me, and hast destroyed them that hated me.
They cried, but there was none to save them, to the Lord: but he heard them not.
And I shall beat them as small as the dust before the wind; I shall bring them to nought, like the dirt in the streets.
Eripuísti me de contradictiónibus pópuli, * constituísti me in caput géntium.
Thou wilt deliver me from the contradictions of the people: thou wilt make me head of the Gentiles.
Pópulus, quem non cognóvi, servívit mihi, * in audítu auris obœdívit mihi.
A people, which I knew not, hath served me: at the hearing of the ear they have obeyed me.
Fílii aliéni blandíti sunt mihi, fílii aliéni inveteráti sunt, * contremuérunt in ábditis suis.
The children that are strangers have lied to me, strange children have faded away, and have halted from their paths.
Amen.

  Deus qui das vindíctas mihi et subdis pópulos sub me, * liberátor meus de inimícis meis iracúndis;
O God, who avengest me, and subduest the people under me, my deliverer from my enemies.
et ab insurgéntibus in me exáltas me, * a viro iníquo éripis me.
And thou wilt lift me up above them that rise up against me: from the unjust man thou wilt deliver me.
Proptérea confitébor tibi in natiónibus, Dómine, * et nómini tuo psalmum dicam,
Therefore will I give glory to thee, O Lord, among the nations, and I will sing a psalm to thy name.

  In primo nocturno, anno I

  r. Ne avértas fáciem tuam a púero tuo, Dómine; * Quóniam tríbulor, velóciter exáudi me. v. Eripe me, Dómine, ab hómine malo, a viro iníquo líbera me. * Quóniam. v. Glória Patri. * Quóniam.

  In secundo nocturno, anno I

  r. Pacífice loquebántur mihi inimíci mei, et in ira molésti erant mihi. * Vidísti, Dómine, ne síleas, ne díscedas a me. v. Omnes inimíci mei advérsum me cogitábant mala mihi, verbum iníquum mandavérunt advérsum me.

After this the proper prayer is said straightway and without "Let us pray", with the long conclusion.
Adésto, Dómine, supplícibus tuis, et spem suam in tua misericórdia collocántes tuére propítius, ut, a peccatórum labe mundáti, * in sancta conversatióne permáneant, et promissiónis tuæ perficiántur herédes. Per Dóminum.
Be attentive to our supplications, Lord, watch over us and protect us, for we put our hope in Thy mercy; now cleansed from our sins, we will be able to live a holy life and enter into full possession of the inheritance that Thou hast promised us.
  Dóminus vobíscum.
  The Lord be with thee.
  r. Et cum spíritu tuo.
  r. And with thy spirit.
Benedícat vos omnípotens Deus, Pater, ✠ et Fílius, et Spíritus Sanctus.
May God Almighty bless thee, the Father, ✠ and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  r. Amen.
  r. Amen.
Vel alia formula benedictionis, sicut in Missa.
Or another formula of blessing, as at Mass.
Et si fit dimissio, sequitur invitatio:
And if we make a referral, we add the invitation:
Absente sacerdote vel diacono, et in recitatione a solo, sic concluditur:
In the absence of a deacon or a priest, and in the recitation alone, it is concluded thus:
Amen.
May the Lord bless us, forbid us from all evil, and bring us to eternal life. r. Amen.
