The Lord's mercies upon the house of David.

Deus ex semine David secundum promissionem eduxit Salvatorem Iesum (Act 13, 22. 23).

God, according to His promise, brought forth a Savior, Jesus, from the race of David.

Misericórdias Dómini in ætérnum cantábo, * in generatiónem et generatiónem annuntiábo veritátem tuam in ore meo.

I will sing the mercies of the Lord for ever; from generation to generation my mouth will declare Thy truth.

For Thou hast said, "Mercy will be raised up like an everlasting building in heaven; Thy truth will be firmly established there.

I have found David My servant; I anointed him with My holy oil.

My truth and My mercy will be with him, and through My Name his power will rise.

if they break My ordinances, and do not keep My commandments:

visitábo in virga delíctum eórum * et in verbéribus iniquitátem eórum.

I will visit their iniquities with the rod, and their sins with blows;

Misericórdiam autem meam non avértam ab eo, * neque méntiar in veritáte mea.

but I will not withdraw My mercy from him, nor will I betray My truth.

Non profanábo testaméntum meum * et, quæ procédunt de lábiis meis, non fáciam írrita.

And I will not break My covenant, nor will I make the words that come from My lips vain.

I once swore by My holiness, and I will not lie to David:
