   Lectio I

In those days, the Lord said to Elijah, “Thou shall anoint Elisha, the son of Shaphat of Abel-Mehula, to be a prophet in thy place.” So Elijah set out from there and found Elisha, the son of Shaphat, plowing with twelve pairs of oxen and driving one of the plows himself. Elijah approached Elisha and threw his cloak over him. Straightway Elisha left his oxen, ran after Elijah, and said unto him, “Please let me go and kiss my father and mother goodbye, and then I will follow thou.” Elijah replied, “Go, and come back; for I have done for thee what was in my power to do.” After Elisha had left Elijah, he took a pair of oxen, slaughtered them, and he cooked their meat over the wood from the plow and gave it unto the people, who ate it; then he got up, went on his way, and followed Elijah, serving him.

   Lectio II

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli apóstoli ad Gálatas (5, 1.13-18)

Fratres: Hac libertáte nos Christus liberávit; state ígitur et nolíte íterum íugo servitútis detíneri.
Brethren: Stand, and be not holden in again with the yoke of servitude. For you, brethren, are called into liberty: only make not this liberty an occasion to the flesh, but by charity serve one another. For all the Law is fulfilled in one word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if you bite and eat one another, take heed you be not consumed one of another. And I say, walk in the spirit, and the lusts of the flesh you shall not accomplish. For the flesh lusteth against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh: for these are adversaries one to another: that not what things soever you will, these you do. But if you be led by the spirit, you are not under the Law.

PRÆFATIO V DE DOMINICIS „PER ANNUM“
PREFACE V SUNDAYS “THROUGHOUT THE YEAR”
   De creatione
   On Creation
It is right and just, and it is our duty and our salvation, to give thee thanks at all times and in all places, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
for thee have created the entire universe and established the ceaseless cycle of the seasons, and to humankind, formed in Thy image and likeness, Thou hast subjected the wonders of the world, so that in Thy name, they may rule over creation. And, contemplating Thy greatness, he may praise Thou at all times, through Christ our Lord.
That is wherefore we praise Thou together with all the angels, joyfully acclaiming Thou:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dóminus Deus Sábaoth...
