My dearest: Whosoever believeth that Jesus is Christ, is born of God. And every one that loveth him which begat, loveth him also which was born of him. In this we know that we love the children of God: when as we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not heavy. Because all that is born of God, overcometh the world: And this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Brethren: Would God you could bear some little of my folly: but do ye also support me: for I emulate you with the emulation of God. For I have despoused you to one man, to present you a chaste virgin unto Christ. But I fear lest, as the serpent seduced Eve by his subtlety, so your senses may be corrupted, & fall from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh, preach another Christ whom we have not preached, or you receive another spirit whom you have not received; or another Gospel which you have not received: you might well suffer it. For I suppose that I have done nothing less than the great Apostles. For although rude in speech, yet not in knowledge. But in all things we are made manifest to you. Or did I commit a sin, humbling myself, that you might be exalted? because I evangelized unto you the Gospel of God gratis? Other churches I spoiled, taking a stipend, for your ministry. And when I was with you, and had need, I was burdenous to none: for that which I wanted, the brethren supplied that came from Macedonia: and in all things I have kept myself without burden to you, and will keep. The truth of Christ is in me, that this glorying shall not be infringed toward me in the countries of Achaia. Wherefore? because I love you not? God doth know.

Et interrogávit unus ex eis Legis doctor, tentans eum: «Magíster, quod est mandátum magnum in Lege?»Ait autem illi: «“Díliges Dóminum Deum tuum in toto corde tuo et in tota ánima tua et in tota mente tua”. Hoc est magnum et primum mandátum. Secúndum autem símile est huic: “Díliges próximum tuum sicut te ipsum”. In his duóbus mandátis univérsa Lex pendet et prophétæ».
At that time: the Pharisees hearing that he had put the Sadducees to silence, came together: and one of them a doctor of law asked of him, tempting him: Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God from thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind. This is the greatest & the first commandment. On the Glory of the Saints
Vere dignum et iustum est, æquum et salutáre, nos tibi semper et ubíque grátias ágere: Dómine, sancte Pater, omnípotens ætérne Deus:
Verily, it is worthy and just, equitable and salutary, for us, evermore and everywhere to give thee thanks: Eternal and Almighty God :
Qui in Sanctórum concílio celebráris, et eórum coronándo mérita tua dona corónas. Qui nobis eórum conversatióne largíris exémplum, et communióne consórtium, et intercessióne subsídium; ut, tantis téstibus confirmáti, ad propósitum certámen currámus invícti et immarcescíbilem cum eis corónam glóriæ consequámur, per Christum Dóminum nostrum.
for thee are glorified in the assembly of the saints, and by crowning their merits, Thou crown Thy own gifts. In their lives, Thou provide us with a model; in communion with them, a family; and in their intercession, support; so that, sustained by so many witnesses, we may run the race set before us unto the end and receive with them the imperishable crown of glory, through Christ our Lord.
