At that time, Jesus said unto the crowds: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. The man who found it hid it anon, and in his joy he went and sold all he had and bought that field. The Kingdom of Heaven is also like a merchant seeking fine pearls. When he found one pearl of great value, he went away, sold everything he had, and bought it. The Kingdom of Heaven is also like a net cast into the sea, gathering fish of every kind. When it is full, the fishermen haul it in, and, sitting on the shore, they sort out the good ones and put them in baskets, whilst they throw away the bad ones. So it will be at the end of the world: the angels will come and separate the wicked from amongst the righteous, and they will cast them into the fiery furnace. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Have thou understood all this?” They said unto him, “Yes.” He said unto them, “That is wherefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” It came to pass that when Jesus had finished these parables, He departed from there. And when He came to His own country, He taught them in their synagogues, so that they were amazed and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miracles?” “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother’s name Mary? And aren’t James, Joseph, Simon, and Jude His brethren? And aren’t all His sisters amongst us? Where, then, did all these things come from?” And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said unto them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” And He did not perform many miracles there forasmuch as of their unbelief.
