Christo Dómino, per quem fore sperámus ut corpus humilitátis nostræ córpori claritátis suæ configurétur, acclamémus, dicéntes:
Let us acclaim Christ the Lord, through whom we hope that our body of humility will be conformed to His body of glory, saying:
Tu es vita et resurréctio nostra, Dómine.
Thou art our life and our resurrection, Lord.
Christe, Fili Dei vivi, qui Lázarum amícum tuum a mórtuis suscitásti,
Christ, Son of the living God, who raised thy friend Lazarus from the dead,
— ad vitam et glóriam defúnctos súscita, quos pretióso tuo sánguine redemísti.
- resurrect to life and glory the dead whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy precious blood.
Christe, mæréntium consolátor, qui in morte Lázari et adulescéntis ac puéllæ pius abstersísti lácrimas propinquórum,
Christ, comforter of the afflicted, who compassionately wiped away the tears of loved ones at the death of Lazarus, the young man and the girl,
— qui defúnctos suos collácrimant omnes consoláre.
- consoles all those who mourn their dead.
Christe salvátor, déstrue in nostro mortáli córpore regnum peccáti, ut, sicut ex hoc stipéndium mortis merúimus,
Christ the Savior, destroy in our mortal bodies the reign of sin, so that as we have deserved from it the wages of death,
— sic in te vitam consequámur ætérnam.
- we obtain eternal life in Thou.
Christe redémptor, réspice eos qui, te non cognoscéntes, spem non habent,
Christ the Redeemer, behold upon those who, not knowing Thou, have no hope,
— ut resurrectiónem et vitam ventúri sǽculi credant.
- that they may believe in the resurrection and the life of the age to come.
Qui, cæco, oculórum lúmine impertíto, te conspiciéndi cópiam dedísti,
Thou who, by giving light unto the blind, gave him the possibility of seeing Thou,
— revéla vultum tuum defúnctis, qui adhuc tua luce privántur.
- reveal Thy face unto the dead who are still deprived of Thy light.
Qui terréstrem domum nostram huius habitatiónis sinis tandem dissólvi,
Thou who allow our earthly dwelling to be finally destroyed,
— domum non manufáctam, ætérnam in cælis, nobis concéde.
- grant us an eternal dwelling in heaven, not made with hands.
