Christum, pro homínibus pontíficem constitútum in iis quæ sunt ad Deum, dignis láudibus celebrémus, humíliter deprecántes:
Let us celebrate Christ, worthy of all praise, constituted pontiff amongst men who are God's, humbly supplicating:
Salvum fac pópulum tuum, Dómine.
Save Thy people, Lord.
Qui Ecclésiam tuam per sanctos et exímios rectóres mirabíliter illustrásti,
Thou hast wonderfully enlightened Thy Church with eminent saints and leaders,
— fac ut christiáni eódem semper lætificéntur splendóre.
— that Christians evermore rejoice in such splendor.
Qui, cum sancti te pastóres sicut Móyses orárent, pópuli peccáta dimisísti,
Thou forgave Thy people's sins when their holy leaders, like Moses, prayed to Thee,
— per intercessiónem eórum Ecclésiam tuam contínua purificatióne sanctífica.
— through their intercession, continue to purify and sanctify Thy Church.
Qui sanctos tuos unxísti in médio fratrum et Spíritum tuum in illos direxísti,
In the midst of their brethren, thou anointed thy saints and filled them with the Holy Spirit,
— reple Spíritu Sancto omnes pópuli tui rectóres.
— fill all the leaders of Thy peoples with the same Spirit.
Qui pastórum sanctórum ipse posséssio exstitísti
Thou yourself are the sole possession of our holy pastors,
— tríbue nullum ex iis, quos sánguine acquisísti, sine te manére.
— that none of them, acquired at the price of Thy blood, remain far from Thee.
Qui, per Ecclésiæ pastóres, vitam ætérnam óvibus tuis præstas, ne rápiat eas quisquam de manu tua,
The shepherds of Thy Church prevent Thy flock from being snatched from Thy hand, and through them Thou givest Thy sheep eternal life,
— salva defúnctos, pro quibus ánimam tuam posuísti.
— save the dead, those for whom thou gavest thy life.
