Christ, our hope of forgiveness, Thou who are life and resurrection—our hearts and eyes turn unto thee when the pain of death overwhelms us
Tu quoque mortis tǽdia passus dirósque stímulos, Patri, inclináto cápite, mitis dedísti spíritum.
Thou, too, endured the pangs of death and its cruel stings; bowing Thy head, Thou gently committed Thy spirit unto the Father.
Vere nostros excípiens languóres, pastor míserens, tecum donásti cómpati Patrísque in sinu cómmori.
By verily taking upon Thyself our weaknesses, merciful Shepherd, Thou hast granted us to suffer and die with thee in the bosom of the Father.

Hanging on the cross, arms outstretched, Thou draw to Thy pierced heart those who are dying, overwhelmed by anguish or illness.

Thou hast shattered the gates of hell and, through Thy victory, opened the gates of heaven: comfort us now in our suffering, and, after death, grant us life.
