Feria V 24 Septembris 2026, Hebdomada XXV per annum,
   Psalmus 87 (88)
   Psalm 87 (88)
   Hominis graviter ægrotantis oratio
   Prayer for the seriously ill
   Now is your hour, and the power of darkness (Lk 22:53).
   Lord, God of my salvation, by day I cry out and by night before Thou.
   Intret in conspéctu tuo orátio mea; * inclína aurem tuam ad precem meam.
   Let my prayer come to Thy presence; incline thy ear to my supplication.
   For my soul is full of evils, and my life is approaching hell.
   Æstimátus sum cum descendéntibus in lacum, * factus sum sicut homo sine adiutório.
   I am numbered amongst those who descend into the pit, I am like a man without strength,
   Inter mórtuos liber, * sicut vulneráti dormiéntes in sepúlcris;
   free amongst the dead, as the wounded who lie in the sepulchres,
   which Thou no longer keep in remembrance, and which are cut off from Thy hand.
   Posuísti me in lacu inferióri, * in tenebrósis et in umbra mortis.
   Thou hast put me in a deep pit, in darkness and in the shadow of death.
   Super me gravátus est furor tuus, * et omnes fluctus tuos induxísti super me.
   Thy fury weighs on me, and Thou overwhelm me with all thy waves.
   Longe fecísti notos meos a me, * posuísti me abominatiónem eis;
   Thou hast removed my knowledge from me, Thou hast made me abominable in their eyes;
   Conclúsus sum et non egrédiar. * Oculi mei languérunt præ afflictióne.
   I am locked up and I cannot go out. My eyes are consumed in suffering.
   I call upon Thee, Lord, all day long I stretch out my hands to Thee.
   Will thou work miracles for the dead? Will the shadows rise to praise Thou?
   Numquid narrábit áliquis in sepúlcro misericórdiam tuam * et veritátem tuam in loco perditiónis?
   Will Thy mercy be told in the tomb, and Thy faithfulness in the abyss?
   Numquid cognoscéntur in ténebris mirabília tua * et iustítia tua in terra obliviónis?
   Will Thy wonders be known in darkness, and Thy righteousness in the land of oblivion?
   But I, Lord, cry out to Thee, in the morning my prayer precedes Thou.
   Ut quid, Dómine, repéllis ánimam meam, * abscóndis fáciem tuam a me?
   Wherefore, Lord, do Thou reject my soul, hide Thy face from me?
   Pauper sum ego et móriens a iuventúte mea; * portávi pavóres tuos et conturbátus sum.
   I have been poor and dying since my youth; I have carried Thy terrors and I am overwhelmed.
   Super me transiérunt iræ tuæ, * et terróres tui excidérunt me.
   Thy fury passes over me, Thy terrors have annihilated me.
   Circuiérunt me sicut aqua tota die, * circumdedérunt me simul.
   They surround me like water all day long, they envelop me all at once.
   Elongásti a me amícum et próximum, * et noti mei sunt ténebræ.
   Thou hast distanced friend and companion from me, my intimates have disappeared into darkness.
