My dearest: Whosoever believeth that Jesus is Christ, is born of God. And every one that loveth him which begat, loveth him also which was born of him. In this we know that we love the children of God: when as we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not heavy. Because all that is born of God, overcometh the world: And this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Lectio I
Scio hóminem in Christo ante annos quattuórdecim – sive in córpore néscio, sive extra corpus néscio, Deus scit – raptum eiúsmodi usque ad tértium cælum. Propter quod ter Dóminum rogávi, ut discéderet a me;et dixit mihi: “Súfficit tibi grátia mea, nam virtus in infirmitáte perfícitur.” Libentíssime ígitur pótius gloriábor in infirmitátibus meis, ut inhábitet in me virtus Christi.
Brethren: If I must glory (it is not expedient indeed) but I will come to the visions & revelations of our Lord. I know a man in Christ above fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I know not, or out of the body, I know not: God doth know) such a one rapt even to the third Heaven. And I know such a man (whether in the body, or out of the body, I know not; God doth know) that he was rapt into Paradise; & heard secret words, which it is not lawful for a man to speak. For such an one I will glory: but for myself I will glory nothing, saving in my infirmities. For and if I will glory, I shall not be foolish: for I shall say truth. But I spare, lest any man should esteem me above that which he seeth in me, or heareth any thing of me. And lest the greatness of the revelations might extol me, there was given me a prick of my flesh, an angel of Satan, to buffet me. For the which thing thrice I besought our Lord, that it might depart from me. And he said to me: My grace sufficeth thee, for power is perfited in infirmity. Gladly therefore will I glory in mine infirmity, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. For the which cause I please myself in infirmities, in contumelies, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ. For when I am weak, then am I mighty.
Verbum Dómini. r. Deo grátias.
Word of the Lord. r. Let us give thanks to God.

At that time: the Pharisees hearing that he had put the Sadducees to silence, came together: and one of them a doctor of law asked of him, tempting him: Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God from thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind. This is the greatest & the first commandment. PRÆFATIO I DE SANCTIS
FIRST PREFACE OF THE SAINTS
De gloria Sanctorum
On the Glory of the Saints
Verily, it is worthy and just, equitable and salutary, for us, evermore and everywhere to give thee thanks: Eternal and Almighty God :
for thee are glorified in the assembly of the saints, and by crowning their merits, Thou crown Thy own gifts. In their lives, Thou provide us with a model; in communion with them, a family; and in their intercession, support; so that, sustained by so many witnesses, we may run the race set before us unto the end and receive with them the imperishable crown of glory, through Christ our Lord.
That is wherefore, together with the angels and archangels, as well as the multitude of saints, we sing a hymn of praise unto thee, repeating without ceasing:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dóminus Deus Sábaoth...

Dómine, quis habitábit in tabernáculo tuo ? aut quis requiéscet in monte sancto tuo ? Qui ingréditur sine mácula, et operátur iustítiam.
Lord, who will dwell in Thy tent? Or who shall rest on Thy holy mountain? He who enters without blemish, and does righteousness.
Post communionem
Angelórum esca nutrítos, fac nos, Dómine, pura tibi conversatióne servíre, et, eius quem hódie cólimus exémplo, in gratiárum semper actióne manére.
Ad Missam lectam:
At the read Mass:
Ant. ad introitum
Ant. ad entrance
Cf. Ps 23, 4.3
Ant. at communion
Ps 77, 24-25
Panem cæli dedit eis, panem Angelórum manducávit homo.
