If before the Mass celebrated at these gatherings, depending on the circumstances of the place and situation, a procession takes place, then a collection is made in a minor church or other suitable place, outside the church to which the procession is headed.

After the greeting of the people, the priest says the prayer of the collection of the mystery of the Holy Cross, either for the remission of sins, or for the Church, especially local, or one of the prayers over the people. When the procession arrives at the church, the priest venerates the altar and, if appropriate, incenses it. Then, omitting the initial rites and, if appropriate, the Kyrie, he pronounces the collection of the Mass, which then continues in the usual way.
