Iam surgit hora tértia, qua Christus ascéndit crucem; nil ínsolens mens cógitet, inténdat afféctum precis.
The third hour already rises,
In which Christ ascended the cross;
Nothing unseemly disturbs the mind,
But with sincere desire turn to prayer.
Qui corde Christum súscipit, innóxium sensum gerit votísque præstat sédulis Sanctum meréri Spíritum.
Who welcomes Christ in his heart Keep your conscience pure And he arranges himself with assiduous prayer To deserve the Holy Spirit.
Hæc hora, quæ finem dedit diri vetérno críminis; hinc iam beáta témpora cœpére Christi grátia.
This is the hour that has ended
At the lethargy of the grave crime,
From this moment, now, it has begun,
By the grace of Christ, a happy age;
Amen.
All glory, Jesus, be to you, The conqueror whom we adore, The Father and the Spirit blest Who reign with you for evermore.

VII (Zain)
VII (Zain)
Memor esto verbi tui servo tuo, * in quo mihi spem dedísti.
Be thou mindful of thy word to thy servant, in which thou hast given me hope.
Hoc me consolátum est in humiliatióne mea, * quia elóquium tuum vivificávit me.
This hath comforted me in my humiliation: because thy word hath enlivened me.
Supérbi derisérunt me veheménter; * a lege autem tua non declinávi.
The proud did iniquitously altogether: but I declined not from thy law.
Memor fui iudiciórum tuórum a sæculo, Dómine, * et consolátus sum.
I remembered, O Lord, thy judgments of old: and I was comforted.
Indignátio ténuit me * propter peccatóres derelinquéntes legem tuam.
A fainting hath taken hold of me, because of the wicked that forsake thy law.
Cántica factæ sunt mihi iustificatiónes tuæ * in loco peregrinatiónis meæ.
Thy justifications were the subject of my song, in the place of my pilgrimage.
Memor fui nocte nóminis tui, Dómine, * et custódiam legem tuam.
In the night I have remembered thy name, O Lord: and have kept thy law.
This happened to me: because I sought after thy justifications.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, and ever shall be. Amen.

Impiorum stultitia
Defeat of the godless
Omnes peccaverunt et egent gloria Dei (Rom 3, 23).
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23).
The fool says in his heart, "There is no God!" They are corrupt, they commit abominable crimes; there is none that does good.
God, from heaven, looks at the sons of man, to behold if there is anyone who is intelligent, someone who seeks God.
All are misguided, all are perverted; there is none of them who does good, not even one.
Have they not knowledge of those who commit iniquity? They devour my people as they eat bread,
they do not call on God! They will suddenly tremble with terror, without there being any cause for terror;
Quóniam Deus dissipávit ossa eórum, qui te obsidébant * confúsi sunt, quóniám Deus sprevit eos.
for God has scattered the bones of him who was encamped against thee; thou hast confounded them, for God has rejected them.
Oh! may the deliverance of Israel come from Zion! When God brings back the captives of His people, Jacob will rejoice, Israel will rejoice.
Amen.

Imploratio auxilii
Imploring help
Orat propheta, ut in nomine Domini a persequentium malignitate liberetur (Cassiodorus).
The prophet prays to be delivered in the name of the Lord from the malice of his persecutors (Cassiodorus).
Deus, in nómine tuo salvum me fac * et in virtúte tua iúdica me.
O God, save me by Thy name, and do me justice by Thy power.
Deus, exáudi oratiónem meam, * áuribus pércipe verba oris mei!
O God, hearken my prayer, give ear unto the words of my mouth.
For strangers have risen against me, violent men want my life; they do not put God before their eyes.
Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the support of my soul.
[Convérte mala super inimícos meos * et in veritáte tua dispérde illos.]
[He shall bring evil upon my adversaries; in Thy truth, destroy them!]
Voluntárie sacrificábo tibi, * confitébor nómini tuo, Dómine, quóniam bonum est;
With all my heart I will offer sacrifices to Thou; I will praise Thy name, Lord, for it is good;
quóniam ex omni tribulatióne erípuit me, * et super inimícos meos despéxit óculus meus.
He delivers me from all anguish, and my eyes rest with joy on my enemies.
Amen.

Lectio brevis (Act 4, 11-12)
This is the stone which was rejected by you the builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved.
v. Surréxit Dóminus vere, allelúia. r.. Et appáruit Simóni, allelúia.
v. The Lord is verily risen, hallelujah. r. And He appeared to Simon, hallelujah.
After this the proper prayer is said straightway and without "Let us pray", with the long conclusion.
Præsta, quǽsumus, omnípotens Deus, † ut, qui gloriósos mártyres Néreum et Achilléum fortes in sua confessióne cognóvimus, * pios apud te in nostra intercessióne sentiámus. Per Dóminum.
Si præest sacerdos vel diaconus :

The Lord be with thee.

Benedícat vos omnípotens Deus, Pater, ✠ et Fílius, et Spíritus Sanctus.
