Psalm 109 (110)
  Messias rex et sacerdos
The messiah, king and priest
Oportet illum regnare, donec ponat omnes inimicos sub pedibus eius (1 Cor 15, 25).
He must reign, having put all His enemies under His feet (1 Cor 15:25).
Dixit Dóminus Dómino meo: * « Sede a dextris meis,
The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou at my right hand:
donec ponam inimícos tuos * scabéllum pedum tuórum ».
Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.
Virgam poténtiæ tuæ emíttet Dóminus ex Sion: * domináre in médio inimicórum tuórum.
The Lord will send forth the sceptre of thy power out of Sion: rule thou in the midst of thy enemies.
Tecum principátus in die virtútis tuæ, in splendóribus sanctis, * ex útero ante lucíferum génui te.
With thee is the principality in the day of thy strength: in the brightness of the saints: from the womb before the day star I begot thee.
Iurávit Dóminus et non pænitébit eum: * « Tu es sacérdos in ætérnum secúndum órdinem Melchísedech ».
The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech.
Dóminus a dextris tuis, * conquassábit in die iræ suæ reges.
The Lord at thy right hand hath broken kings in the day of his wrath.
Iudicábit in natiónibus: cumulántur cadávera, * conquassábit cápita in terra spatiósa.
He shall judge among nations, he shall fill ruins: he shall crush the heads in the land of the many.
De torrénte in via bibet, * proptérea exaltábit caput.
He shall drink of the torrent in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

  Magna opera Domini
Great are the works of the Lord
Magna et mirabilia opera tua, Domine Deus omnipotens (Ap 15, 3).
Great and marvellous are Your works, O Lord, Almighty God (Rev 15:3).
Confitébor Dómino in toto corde meo, * in consílio iustórum et congregatióne.
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; in the council of the just: and in the congregation.
Magna ópera Dómini, * exquirénda ómnibus, qui cúpiunt ea.
Great are the works of the Lord: sought out according to all his wills.

His work is praise and magnificence: and his justice continueth for ever and ever.

He hath given food to them that fear him. He will be mindful for ever of his covenant:
  Virtútem óperum suórum annuntiávit pópulo suo, * ut det illis hereditátem géntium;
He will shew forth to his people the power of his works. That he may give them the inheritance of the Gentiles:
ópera mánuum eius véritas et iudícium. * Fidélia ómnia mandáta eius,
the works of his hands are truth and judgment. All his commandments are faithful:
confirmáta in sǽculum sǽculi, * facta in veritáte et æquitáte.
confirmed for ever and ever, made in truth and equity.
Redemptiónem misit pópulo suo, mandávit in ætérnum testaméntum suum. * Sanctum et terríbile nomen eius.
He hath sent redemption to his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever. Holy and terrible is his name:
Inítium sapiéntiæ timor Dómini, intelléctus bonus ómnibus faciéntibus ea; * laudátio eius manet in sǽculum sǽculi.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding to all that do it: his praise continueth for ever and ever.

  Viri iusti beatitudo
Beatitude of the righteous man
Ut filii lucis ambulate; fructus lucis est in omni bonitate et iustitia et veritate (Eph 5, 8-9).

Acceptable is the man that sheweth mercy and lendeth: he shall order his words with judgment:
quia in ætérnum non commovébitur. * In memória ætérna erit iustus,
Because he shall not be moved for ever.
ab auditióne mala non timébit. * Parátum cor eius, sperans in Dómino,
The just shall be in everlasting remembrance: he shall not fear the evil hearing. His heart is ready to hope in the Lord:
confirmátum est cor eius, non timébit, * donec despíciat inimícos suos.
His heart is strengthened, he shall not be moved until he look over his enemies.

Reges terræ afferent gloriam suam et honorem in civitatem sanctam (Cf. Ap 21, 24).
The kings of the earth will bring their glory and honor to the holy city (Cf. Rev 21:24).
Confitébor tibi, Dómine, in toto corde meo, quóniam audísti verba oris mei. * In conspéctu angelórum psallam tibi,
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart, because thou hast heard the words of my mouth: * I will sing praise to thee in the sight of the angels.
adorábo ad templum sanctum tuum; * et confitébor nómini tuo
I will adore towards thy holy temple, * and I will give glory to thy name,
propter misericórdiam tuam et veritátem tuam, * quóniam magnificásti super omne nomen elóquium tuum.
For thy mercy and for thy truth; * for thou hast magnified thy holy name above all.
In quacúmque die invocávero te, exáudi me; * multiplicábis in ánima mea virtútem.
In what day soever I shall call upon thee, hear me: * thou shalt multiply strength in my soul.
Confitebúntur tibi, Dómine, omnes reges terræ, * quia audiérunt elóquia oris tui.
Let all the kings of the earth, O Lord, give glory to thee: * for they have heard all the words of thy mouth.
  Et cantábunt vias Dómini, * quóniam magna est glória Dómini;
And let them sing in the ways of the Lord: * for great is the glory of the Lord.
quóniam excélsus Dóminus et húmilem réspicit, * et supérbum a longe cognóscit.
For the Lord is high, and looketh on the low: * and the high he knoweth afar off.
Si ambulávero in médio tribulatiónis, vivificábis me; et contra iram inimicórum meórum exténdes manum tuam, * et salvum me fáciet déxtera tua.
If I shall walk in the midst of tribulation, thou wilt quicken me: and thou hast stretched forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies, * and thy right hand hath saved me.
Dóminus perfíciet pro me; Dómine, misericórdia tua in sǽculum: * ópera mánuum tuárum ne despícias.
The Lord will accomplish for me: O Lord, thy mercy is for ever: * despise not the works of thy hands.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

  Lectio brevis (Ap 8, 3-4)
Another angel came, and stood before the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer of the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar, which is before the throne of God. And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before God from the hand of the angel.
