O God, who rejoices us with the annual celebration of Blessed Cecilia, grant us, we beseech Thee, that the examples which have been piously handed down unto us concerning Thy servant may offer us models to imitate, and that they may proclaim the wonders of Christ Thy Son in His servants.

PREFACE ON THE HOLY VIRGINS AND NUNS
   De signo vitæ Deo consecratæ
The Sign of a Life Dedicated to God
Sequens præfatio dicitur in sollemnitatibus et festis Sanctarum Virginum et Sanctorum Religiosorum. Dici potest in memoriis ipsorum.
The following preface is recited during solemnities and feasts of the Holy Virgins and holy women religious. It may also be recited when their memorials are celebrated.
It is verily right and just, it is our duty and our salvation, to give thee thanks evermore and everywhere, Lord, holy Father, eternal and almighty God:
Indeed, we should celebrate Thy wondrous providence in the saints, who have consecrated themselves to Christ for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, through which Thou restore human nature to its original holiness and lead it to experience the gifts that will be bestowed in the world to come.
That is wherefore, together with the saints and all the angels, we praise Thou, saying without end:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dóminus Deus Sábaoth...
