Christus lumen gentium et gloria Israël
Christ is the light of the nations and the glory of Israel
Nunc ✠ dimíttis servum tuum, Dómine, * secúndum verbum tuum in pace,
Now thou dost dismiss thy servant, O Lord, according to thy word in peace;
quia vidérunt óculi mei * salutáre tuum,
Because my eyes have seen thy salvation,
quod parásti * ante fáciem ómnium populórum,
Which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples:
lumen ad revelatiónem géntium * et glóriam plebis tuæ Israël.
A light to the revelation of the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
