The good shepherd
Agnus pascet illos et deducet eos ad vitæ fontes aquarum (Ap 7, 17).
The Lamb will be their Shepherd, leading them to the waters of the spring of life. Rev 7:17
Dóminus pascit me, et nihil mihi déerit: * in páscuis viréntibus me collocávit,
The Lord is my shepherd; I will want for naught: He maketh me rest in green pastures,
super aquas quiétis edúxit me, * ánimam meam refécit.
He leads me unto the refreshing waters, He restores my soul.
Dedúxit me super sémitas iustítiæ * propter nomen suum.
He leads me in the right paths, forasmuch as of His name.
Nam et si ambulávero in valle umbræ mortis, non timébo mala, * quóniam tu mecum es.
Even when I walk in a valley of deadly shadow, I fear no evil, for Thee art with me.
Virga tua et báculus tuus, * ipsa me consoláta sunt.
Thy staff and thy staff have comforted me.
Parásti in conspéctu meo mensam * advérsus eos, qui tríbulant me;
Thou set up a table before me in front of my enemies who persecute me;
impinguásti in óleo caput meum, * et calix meus redúndat.
Thou sprinkle oil on my head; my cup is overflowing.
Etenim benígnitas et misericórdia subsequéntur me * ómnibus diébus vitæ meæ,
Yes, happiness and grace will accompany me, all the days of my life,
et inhabitábo in domo Dómini * in longitúdinem diérum.
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for many days.
