Lectio I
This is what the Lord says: All ye that thirst come to the waters: and you that have no silver, make haste, buy, & eat: come, buy without silver, and without any exchange wine and milk. Why bestow you silver not for bread, & your labour not for satiety? Hearing hear ye me, and eat that which is good, and your soul shall be delighted in fatness. Incline your ear, & come to me: hear, and your soul shall live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the faithful mercies of David.

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli apóstoli ad Romános (8,35.37-39)
Fratres: Quis nos separábit a caritáte Christi? Tribulátio an angústia an persecútio an fames an núditas an perículum an gládius?
Brethren: Who then shall separate us from the charity of Christ? tribulation? or distress? or famine? or nakedness? or danger? or persecution? or the sword? But in all these things we overcome because of him that hath loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor Angels, nor Principalities, nor Powers, neither things present, nor things to come, neither might, nor height, nor depth, nor other creature, shall be able to separate us from the charity of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

At that time: Jesus, having heard of the death of John the Baptist, he retired from thence by boat, into a desert place apart, and the multitudes having heard of it, followed him on foot out of the cities. And he coming forth saw a great multitude, and pitied them, and cured their diseased. And when it was evening, his Disciples came unto him, saying: It is a desert place, and the hour is now past: dismiss the multitudes, that going into the towns, they may buy themselves victuals. But Jesus said to them: They have no need to go: give ye them to eat. They answered him: We have not here, but five loaves, and two fishes. Who said to them: Bring them hither to me. And when he had commanded the multitude to sit down upon the grass, he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up unto Heaven he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his Disciples, and the Disciples to the multitudes. And they did all eat, and had their fill. And they took the leavings, twelve full baskets of the fragments. And the number of them that did eat was, five thousand men, beside women and children.

For all of us gathered here, that we may know how to make good use of the blessings of the present—which God never ceases to bestow upon us—so that we may then inherit eternal blessings, we implore the Lord. r. Kyrie eleison.

MOSES prayed in the sight of the Lord his God, and said: Why, O Lord, is Thy indignation enkindled against Thy people? Let the anger of Thy mind cease; remember Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to whom Thou didst swear to give a land flowing with milk and honey: and the Lord was appeased from doing the evil which He had spoken of doing against His people.

PRÆFATIO II DE DOMINICIS „PER ANNUM“
Second Preface unto the “Sundays Throughout the Year”
De mysterio salutis
The Mystery of Salvation
Verily, it is right and just, fair and salutary for us, evermore and everywhere, to give thee thanks: Lord, Holy Father, eternal and almighty God, through Christ our Lord.
He who, taking pity on human failings, deigned to be born of a Virgin. He who, having suffered on the cross, freed us from eternal death and, by rising from the dead, gave us eternal life.
That is wherefore, together with the Angels and Archangels, the Thrones and Dominions, and the entire host of the heavenly army, we sing a hymn of glory unto thee, saying without end:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dóminus Deus Sábaoth...
