Candor ætérnæ Deitátis alme, Christe, tu lumen vénia atque vita ádvenis, morbis hóminum medéla, porta salútis.
Bright splendor of divinity, O Christ, our only life and light, You bring the sick a remedy, And set our crooked paths aright.
Intonat terræ chorus angelórum cǽlicum carmen, nova sæcla dicens, glóriam Patri, generíque nostro gáudia pacis.
So let the angels' song resound, To usher in the age of grace And tell of glory all around, Proclaiming joy unto our race.
Qui iaces parvus dóminans et orbi, Vírginis fructus sine labe sanctæ, Christe, iam mundo potiáris omni, semper amándus.
You lie, an infant, ruling earth, Now rule our hearts forevermore, To whom a spotless Maid gave birth, O Christ, our most beloved Lord.
Nascéris cælos pátriam datúrus, unus e nobis, caro nostra factus; ínnova mentes, trahe caritátis péctora vinclis.
You came to give us heav'n above, As one of us, you took our flesh; Entwine our hearts with bonds of love And with your grace our minds refresh.
Cœtus exsúltans canit ecce noster ángelis læto sociátus ore, et Patri tecum parilíque Amóri cántica laudis. Amen.
Behold we join the angels' song And cry to you with one accord, To whom all hymns of praise belong, The Holy Trinity, one Lord.

Deus, áuribus nostris audívimus; † patres nostri annuntiavérunt nobis * opus, quod operátus es in diébus eórum, in diébus antíquis.
O God, we have heard with our ears; our fathers have told us of the work that Thou hast done in their days, and in the days of old.
Tu manu tua gentes depulísti et plantásti illos, * afflixísti pópulos et dilatásti eos.
Thy hand has destroyed the nations, and thou hast set them in their place; Thou hast afflicted the peoples, and Thou hast driven them out.
Nec enim in gládio suo possedérunt terram, * et bráchium eórum non salvávit eos;
For it was not with their sword that they conquered this land, nor did their arm save them,
but it is Thy right hand and Thy arm, and the light of Thy face, forasmuch as Thou lovedst them.
Thou art my king and my God, thou who command the salvation of Jacob.
In te inimícos nostros proiécimus * et in nómine tuo conculcávimus insurgéntes in nos.
Through Thou we will overthrow our enemies, and in Thy Name we will despise those who rise up against us.
For it is not in my bow that I will trust, * nor will my sword save me.
But it is Thou who have saved us from those who afflicted us, and who have confounded those who hated us.
In Deo gloriábimur tota die * et in nómine tuo confitébimur in sæculum.
In God we will glory all day long, and we will praise Thy Name forevermore.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Thou hast given us back the fable of the nations; the people shake their heads about us.

In secundo nocturno, anno I
Beátam me dicent omnes generatiónes, quia ancíllam húmilem respéxit Deus. * Et. v. Glória Patri. * Et.

Orémus.
Deus, qui pópulo tuo, Unigéniti tui nativitáte, redemptiónis efféctum mirabíliter inchoásti, † ita, quǽsumus, fídei fámulis tuis tríbue firmitátem, * ut usque ad promíssum glóriæ prǽmium, ipso gubernánte, pervéniant. Qui tecum.
God, who has wonderfully begun the effect of redemption for Thy people by the birth of Thy only Son, grant, we ask Thou, the steadfastness of faith to Thy servants, so that they may attain, under His guidance, unto the reward of the promised glory.
