The Lord, supreme judge

Deposuit potentes de sede et exaltavit humiles (Lc 1, 52).

He removes the mighty from their thrones and exalts the humble (Lk 1:52).

Confitébimur tibi, Deus; † confitébimur et invocábimus nomen tuum: *narrábimus mirabília tua.

We will praise Thou, O God; we will praise Thou, and we will call on Thy name; we will tell of Thy wonders.

Cum statúero tempus, *ego iustítias iudicábo.

In the time that I have appointed, I will do perfect justice.

Wherefore having the loins of your mind girt up, being sober, trust perfectly in the grace which is offered you in the revelation of Jesus Christ, As children of obedience, not fashioned according to the former desires of your ignorance:

Instructed by the observance of Lent and nourished by Thy word, we pray to Thou, Lord: grant that our hearts may be entirely consecrated to Thou in a salutary effort of penance, and that they may evermore be unanimous in their prayers to Thou.
