Give ear to my words, Lord, understand my complaint.

Be attentive unto the voice of my cry, my king and my God. For it is thou that I pray to,

Dómine, mane exáudies vocem meam; * mane astábo tibi et exspectábo.

Lord, in the morning Thou hearest my voice; in the morning I prepare for Thou and I am waiting.

Quóniam non Deus volens iniquitátem tu es; † neque habitábit iuxta te malígnus, * neque permanébunt iniústi ante óculos tuos.

For Thou art not a God who delights in iniquity, the wicked will not dwell with Thou, and the foolish will not stand before Thy eyes.

Thou hate all those who commit iniquity, thou destroy those who speak lies;

As for me, by the greatness of Thy mercy, I will enter into Thy house;

I will prostrate myself in Thy holy temple with fear.

Dómine, deduc me in iustítia tua † propter inimícos meos, * dírige in conspéctu meo viam tuam.

Lord, lead me into Thy righteousness, for the sake of my enemies, make Thy way straight before me.

Quóniam non est in ore eórum véritas, * cor eórum fóvea;

For there is no sincerity in their mouths; their hearts are filled with malice;

sepúlcrum patens est guttur eórum, * mólliunt linguas suas.

their throats are an open sepulchre, they make their tongues flattering.

Iúdica illos, Deus; * décidant a cogitationibus suis;

Judge them, O God; let their thoughts make them fall;

secúndum multitúdinem impietátum eórum expélle eos, * quóniam irritavérunt te, Dómine.

reject them for the multitude of their ungodliness, for they have angered Thou.

Et omnes qui sperant in te læténtur, * in ætérnum exsúltent.

Then all those who hope in Thou shalt rejoice, they will rejoice forevermore.

Thou shalt protect them, and they will glory in thee, those who love Thy name.

Malitia peccatoris, Domini bonitas

The malice of the wicked and the goodness of God

Qui sequitur me, non ambulabit in tenebris, sed habebit lucem vitæ (Io 8, 12).

He who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (Jn 8:12).

Susúrrat iníquitas ad ímpium * in médio cordis eius; non est timor Dei ante óculos eius.

Iniquity whispers unto the ungodly in the depths of his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes.

Quóniam blandítur ipsi in conspéctu eius, * ut non invéniat iniquitátem suam et óderit.

For he flatters himself before him, that he may not discover his iniquity, and that he hates.

Verba oris eius iníquitas et dolus, * désiit intellégere, ut bene ágeret.

The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit, he ceases to understand in order to do good.

Iniquitátem meditátus est in cubíli suo, † ástitit omni viæ non bonæ, * malítiam autem non odívit.

He meditates iniquity in his bed, he stands on all the ungood ways; he did not hate malice.

Dómine, in cælo misericórdia tua * et véritas tua usque ad nubes;

Lord, in heaven is Thy mercy and Thy truth even unto the clouds;

Iustítia tua sicut montes Dei, † iudícia tua abýssus multa: * hómines et iuménta salvábis, Dómine.

Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God, Thy righteousness like a great abyss: Thou shalt save men and beasts, Lord.

Quam pretiósa misericórdia tua, Deus! * Fílii autem hóminum in tégmine alárum tuárum sperábunt;

How precious is Thy mercy, God! The sons of men will hope in the shadow of Thy wings;

Inebriábuntur ab ubertáte domus tuæ, * et torrénte voluptátis tuæ potábis eos.

They will be watered with the abundance of Thy house, and Thou shalt drink them with the torrent of Thy pleasure.

Quóniam apud te est fons vitæ, * et in lúmine tuo vidébimus lumen.

For with Thou is the source of life, and in Thy light we shall behold the light.

Præténde misericórdiam tuam sciéntibus te * et iustítiam tuam his, qui recto sunt corde.

Extend Thy mercy to those who know Thou, and Thy righteousness to those who are upright in heart.

Non véniat mihi pes supérbiæ, * et manus peccatóris non móveat me.

Let not the foot of the proud come unto me, nor let the hand of the sinner cast me out.

There have fallen those who do iniquity, they have been cast out and cannot stand.
