Triumphalis ingressus Domini

The Lord's triumphal entry

Ascendens in altum captivam duxit captivatem, dedit dona hominibus (Eph 4,8).

Having ascended on high, He led captivity captive, He gave gifts to men.

Exsúrgit Deus, et dissipántur inimíci eíus; * et fúgiunt, qui odérunt eum, a fácie eíus.

May God arise, and let His enemies be dispelled, and let them flee, those who hate Him, before His face.

Sicut dissipátur fumus, tu díssipas; † sicut fluit cera a fácie ignis, * sic péreunt peccatóres a fácie Dei.

As the smoke disappears, let them disappear; as wax melts before fire, so do sinners perish before the face of God.

Et iústi læténtur et exsúltent in conspéctu Dei * et delecténtur in lætítia.

But let the righteous be as in a feast, and let them tremble in the presence of God, and let them be in transports of joy.

Sing to God, praise His Name with a song; make way for Him who ascends unto the west. The Lord is His Name.

Leap for joy in His presence. We will tremble before Him. He is the father of orphans and the judge of widows. God is in His holy place.

It is the God who causes those who have the same spirit to dwell in the same house; who delivers the captives by His power, as well as those who anger Him, who dwell in the tombs.

O God, when Thou walkedst at the head of Thy people, when Thou crossed the desert,

Thy animals will dwell there: Thou hast in Thy goodness, O God, prepared food for the poor.

The Lord gives His commands to His messengers with great power.

“Reges exercítuum fúgiunt, fúgiunt, * et spécies domus dívidit spólia.

The kings of armies flee, will flee; and she who is the ornament of the house divides the spoils.

Et vos dormítis inter médias caulas: * alæ colúmbæ nitent argénto, et pennæ eíus pallóre auri.

When thou sleep in the midst of thy inheritances, the dove's wings are silver, and the end of its back has the pale lustre of gold.

When the Most High scatters the kings in the land, all is whitened by the snows on the Selmon.

The mountain of God is a fat mountain. It's a massive mountain, a fat mountain.

Wherefore do thou behold in awe at the massive mountains? There is a mountain where it hath pleased God to dwell; and the Lord will dwell there forevermore.

Currus Dei decem mília mílium: * Dóminus venit de Sínai in sancta.

The chariot of God is surrounded by more than ten thousand; the Lord comes from Sinai into His sanctuary.

Dispel the nations that want war. Ambassadors will come from Egypt; Ethiopia will hasten to stretch out its hands to God.

Kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; praise the Lord, praise God, who rises unto the highest heaven, unto the east. Behold, He is going to give His voice a mighty luster.

Quotiescúmque, fratres, sanctórum martýria celebrámus, tóties laudes Salvatóris dícimus; et quóties eórum assérimus passiónem, tóties Christi glóriam prædicámus. Non enim suspícimus quod passi sunt, sed propter quem passi sunt admirámur. Igitur non pœna in laude, sed fides in honóre. Magnificámus ergo mártyres non quia grávibus subiacuére supplíciis, sed quia iustítiæ causa éadem toleravére supplícia.
