The souls of the just are in the hand of God, and the torment of death shall not touch them. They seemed in the eyes of the unwise to die: and their decease was counted affliction: and that which with us is the way, is destruction: but they are in peace. And though before men they suffered torments, their hope is full of immortality. Vexed in few things, in many they shall be well disposed of: because God hath tempted them, and hath found them worthy of himself. As gold in the furnace he hath proved them, and as an host of holocaust he hath received them, & in time there shall be respect of them. It came to pass in that year, in the beginning of the kingdom of Sedecias king of Juda, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, Hananias the son of Azur the Prophet of Gabaon spake to me, in the house of our Lord before the Priests, and all the people, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. As yet two years of days, and I will make all the vessels of the house of our Lord to be brought back into this place, which Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon took out of this place, and transported them into Babylon. And Jechonias the son of Joakim the king of Juda, and all the transmigration of Juda, that are entered into Babylon, I will make to return to this place, saith our Lord: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. And Jeremy the Prophet said to Hananias the Prophet in the presence of the Priests, and in the presence of all the people, that stood in the house of our Lord: And Jeremy the Prophet said: Amen, Our Lord so do: our Lord raise up thy words, which thou hast prophesied: that the vessels may be brought again into the house of our Lord, and all the transmigration out of Babylon to this place. Quóniam beáti mártyris N. pro confessióne nóminis tui, ad imitatiónem Christi, sanguis effúsus tua mirabília maniféstat, quibus pérficis in fragilitáte virtútem, et vires infírmas ad testimónium róboras, per Christum Dóminum nostrum.
For the blood shed by the blessed martyr N. in confession of Thy name, in imitation of Christ, reveals Thy wonders, through which Thou perfect strength in weakness and sustain failing strength for the sake of witness, through Christ our Lord.

Quóniam tu magnificáris in tuórum laude Sanctórum, et quidquid ad eórum pértinet passiónem, tuæ sunt ópera miránda poténtiæ: qui huius fídei tríbuis cleménter ardórem, qui súggeris perseverántiæ firmitátem, qui largíris in agóne victóriam, per Christum Dóminum nostrum.
for thee are glorified in the praise of Thy saints, and everything related to their passion is the wondrous work of Thy power: it is Thou who graciously grant the fervor of this faith, Thou who inspire steadfast perseverance, Thou who bestow victory in battle, through Christ our Lord.
