PRÆFATIO PASCHALIS III
De Christo vivente et semper interpellante pro nobis
Christ, who lives and intercedes for us without ceasing
Vere dignum et iustum est, æquum et salutáre:
Verily, it is worthy and just, fair and beneficial:
Te quidem, Dómine, omni témpore confitéri, sed in hoc potíssimum gloriósius prædicáre, cum Pascha nostrum immolátus est Christus.
but even more to exalt Thou in this glorious time when Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed.
Qui se pro nobis offérre non désinit, nosque apud te perénni advocatióne deféndit; qui immolátus iam non móritur, sed semper vivit occísus.
Forasmuch as He never ceases to offer Himself for us, interceding ceaselessly before thee; though He was put to death, He dies no more; though He was sacrificed, He lives forevermore.
Quaprópter, profúsis paschálibus gáudiis, totus in orbe terrárum mundus exsúltat.
And so, filled with the joy of Easter, the whole world rejoices.
Sed et supérnæ virtútes atque angélicæ potestátes hymnum glóriæ tuæ cóncinunt, sine fine dicéntes:
But the higher virtues and the angelic powers, too, sing the hymn of Thy glory, saying without ceasing:
