Deus, qui beátam Rosam, tuo amóre succénsam, mundum relínquere et tibi soli in austeritáte pæniténtiæ vacáre fecísti, da nobis, eius intercessióne, ut, vias vitæ sectántes in terris, torrénte deliciárum tuárum perfruámur in cælis. Per Dóminum.
God, who enabled Blessed Rose, inflamed by Thy love, to leave the world behind and be free for thee alone in the austerity of penance, grant us, through her intercession, that as we follow the paths of life on earth, we may partake of the torrent of Thy delights in heaven.

Brethren: Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord. May thou bear with a little of my folly; but yes, bear with me! For I am jealous for thee with a godly jealousy; I have betrothed thou to one husband, to present thou to Christ as a pure virgin.

   Lectio I

Elimelech had a relative, a powerful and extremely wealthy man named Boaz. And Ruth the Moabite said unto her mother-in-law, “If thou thinkest it’s all right, I’ll go out into the fields and glean the ears of grain that the reapers have left behind, wherever I find a man who is kind unto me.” Naomi replied, “Go, my daughter.” So she went and gleaned behind the reapers. Now it happened that the field where she was belonged to Boaz, a relative of Elimelech. Boaz said to Ruth, “Hearken, my daughter; do not go to another field to glean, and do not leave this place; but join my young women, and follow wherever they are reaping, for I have commanded my servants not to trouble thou in any way; and when thou art thirsty, go unto the water jars and drink the water that my servants drink.” Ruth bowed with her face unto the ground in reverence and said to Boaz, “Wherefore have I found favor in thy eyes, that thou should take notice of mea foreign woman?” He replied, “I have been told all that thou hast done for thy mother-in-law since thy husband’s deathhow thou left thy parents and the land of thy birth to come to a people thou didst not know before.” So Boaz took Ruth and married her; and after she was married, the Lord granted her the grace to conceive and bear a son. And the women said to Naomi: “Blessed be the Lord, who has not allowed thy family to be without an heir, and who has ensured that his name will be preserved in Israel; so that thou may have a child to comfort thy soul and to provide for thee in thy old age, for he was born unto thee through thy daughter-in-law, who loves thou and is worth far more unto thee than if thou hadst seven sons.” Naomi took the child and laid him in her bosom; she cared for him and served as his nurse. Her female neighbors rejoiced with her, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi,” and they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.

At that time, Jesus said unto the crowds: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. The man who found it hid it anon, and in his joy he went and sold all he had and bought that field. The Kingdom of Heaven is also like a merchant seeking fine pearls. When he found one pearl of great value, he went away, sold everything he had, and bought it. The Kingdom of Heaven is also like a net cast into the sea, gathering fish of every kind. When it is full, the fishermen haul it in, and, sitting on the shore, they sort out the good ones and put them in baskets, whilst they throw away the bad ones. So it will be at the end of the world: the angels will come and separate the wicked from amongst the righteous, and they will cast them into the fiery furnace. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Have thou understood all this?” They said unto him, “Yes.” He said unto them, “That is wherefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” It came to pass that when Jesus had finished these parables, He departed from there. And when He came to His own country, He taught them in their synagogues, so that they were amazed and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miracles?” “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother’s name Mary? And aren’t James, Joseph, Simon, and Jude His brethren? And aren’t all His sisters amongst us? Where, then, did all these things come from?” And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said unto them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” And He did not perform many miracles there forasmuch as of their unbelief.

In that time: Jesus spake to the multitudes and to his Disciples, saying: Upon the chair of Moyses have sitten the Scribes and the Pharisees. All things therefore whatsoever they shall say to you, observe ye and do ye: but according to their works do ye not, for they say and do not. For they bind heavy burdens & importable: & put them upon men's shoulders: but with a finger of their own they will not move them. But they do all their works for to be seen of men. For they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge their fringes. And they love the first places at suppers, and the first chairs in the Synagogues, and salutations in the market-place, and to be called of men, Rabbi. But be not you called Rabbi. For one is your Master, and all you are brethren. And call none Father to yourself upon earth: for one is your Father, he that is in Heaven. Neither be ye called Masters: for one is your Master, Christ. He that is the greater of you, shall be your servitor. And he that exalteth himself, shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

The following preface is recited during solemnities and feasts of the Holy Virgins and holy women religious. It may also be recited when their memorials are celebrated.
It is verily right and just, it is our duty and our salvation, to give thee thanks evermore and everywhere, Lord, holy Father, eternal and almighty God:
Indeed, we should celebrate Thy wondrous providence in the saints, who have consecrated themselves to Christ for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, through which Thou restore human nature to its original holiness and lead it to experience the gifts that will be bestowed in the world to come.
That is wherefore, together with the saints and all the angels, we praise Thou, saying without end:
