  PRÆFATIO II DE APOSTOLIS
II PREFACE OF THE APOTRES
  De apostolico fundamento et testimonio
The foundation and testimony of the apostles
Truly it is worthy and just, equitable and salutary, for us to give You thanks always and everywhere: Lord, holy Father, eternal and all-powerful God: through Christ our Lord.
Quóniam Ecclésiam tuam in apostólicis tribuísti consístere fundaméntis, ut signum sanctitátis tuæ in terris manéret ipsa perpétuum, et cæléstia præbéret cunctis homínibus documénta.
Because You wanted Your Church to have the apostles as its foundation, so that it might remain on earth as a perpetual sign of Your holiness and offer to all men the teachings of heaven.
Therefore, now and unto ages, with all the host of Angels, with soul consecrated to Thee we sing proclaiming and saying:

The following blessings may be used, at the discretion of the priest, at the end of the celebration of Mass, or of the Liturgy of the Word, or of the Office, or of the Sacraments. The deacon, or failing that, the priest himself, says the invitatory:

  Bow down for the blessing.
Deinde sacerdos, manibus super populum extensis, dicit benedictionem, omnibus respondentibus:
Then the priest, with his hands extended over the people, says the blessing, to which all respond:
