Hos Quadragésimæ dies, fratres caríssimi, debémus omni veneratióne suscípere, nec longiórem númerum huius témporis fastidíre: quia quanto plures dies sunt ieiúnii, tanto maior est causa remédii; quanto prolíxior abstinéntiæ cursus, tanto redémptio copiósior est salútis; quanto austérior cura vúlnerum, tanto medicína est salúbrior peccatórum.
