Gratiarum actio et auxilii petitio
Thanksgiving and asking for help
Hostiam et oblationem noluisti, corpus autem aptasti mihi (Hebr 10, 5).
Thou wanted neither sacrifice nor offering, but Thou formed me into a body (Hebr 10:5).

Exspéctans exspectávi Dóminum, * et inténdit mihi.
I have put all my hope in the Lord: He hath bowed down unto me,
Et exaudívit clamórem meum * et edúxit me de lacu misériæ et de luto fæcis;
He listened to my cries. He hath taken me out of the pit of perdition, from the mire of the mire;
et státuit super petram pedes meos * et firmávit gressus meos.
He hath lifted up my feet on the rock, He hath strengthened my steps.
Et immísit in os meum cánticum novum, * carmen Deo nostro.
He hath put into my mouth a new song, a praise to our God;
Vidébunt multi et timébunt * et sperábunt in Dómino.
many behold it, and they revere the Lord, they trust in Him.
Beátus vir, qui pósuit Dóminum spem suam * et non respéxit supérbos et declinántes in mendácium.
Happy is the man who has put his trust in the Lord, and who does not turn unto the proud, and to those who are led astray by lies!
Multa fecísti tu, Dómine Deus meus, mirabília tua, † et cogitatiónes tuas pro nobis: * non est qui símilis sit tibi.
O Lord my God, thou hast multiplied thy wonders and thy purposes for us: no one is comparable unto thee.
Si nuntiáre et éloqui volúero, * multiplicabúntur super númerum.
I would like to publish and proclaim them; they surpass any narrative.
Sacrifícium et oblatiónem noluísti, * aures autem fodísti mihi.
Thou desire neither sacrifice nor oblation, Thou hast pierced my ears;
Holocáustum et pro peccáto non postulásti, * tunc dixi: «Ecce vénio.
Thou ask for neither a burnt offering nor an expiatory victim. So I said, "Behold, I'm coming,
In volúmine libri scriptum est de me. * Fácere voluntátem tuam,
with the scroll of the book written for me. I want to do Thy will,
