   PREFACE
   De transfiguratione Domini
   On the Transfiguration of the Lord
   Vere dignum et iustum est, æquum et salutáre, nos tibi semper et ubíque grátias ágere: Dómine, sancte Pater, omnípotens ætérne Deus: per Christum Dóminum nostrum.
   It is verily right and just, good and fitting, that we give thee thanks evermore and everywhere: Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
   Qui, própria morte prænuntiáta discípulis, in monte sancto suam eis apéruit claritátem, ut per passiónem, étiam lege prophetísque testántibus, ad glóriam resurrectiónis perveníri constáret.
   After announcing his own death to his disciples, he revealed his glory unto them on the holy mountain, so that it might be clear that it is through sufferingas attested by the Law and the Prophetsthat one attains the glory of the resurrection.
   Et ídeo cum cælórum virtútibus in terris te iúgiter celebrámus, maiestáti tuæ sine fine clamántes:
   That is wherefore, together with the heavenly powers on earth, we give thee unceasing glory, proclaiming Thy majesty without ceasing:
