* The Angelus is rung by three series of three rings followed by a "full peal". The ringing corresponds unto the beginning of the versicle, the responsory and the Ave.
** It is customary to bow one's head slightly to this versicle as a sign of reverence for the mystery of the Incarnation.
The Angelus prayer is usually recited three times a day, at 7 a.m., noon and 7 p.m. In some places, this prayer is recited after the office of Lauds, the Office of Sext and after Compline.
At Easter, this prayer is replaced by the Regina caeli.
